FOCUSSING IN ECOTOURISM and CONSERVATIONS
We are passionate in ecotourism and conserthvation and most of the tour products we sell are including birding tour, wildlife watching tour, and recently butterfly tour.
Moreover even for those who required specific tour such as beach holiday,diving or adventure tours, we try to include a visit of one national park in their itinerary, to in order to preserve the wildlife and to make them aware of the importance of their visit of parks which has a good impact for the preservation of the animals,the benefit of the local community.
Their visit contributes more for the park preservations because the local community can get benefit jobs as tour guides, and the local community can benefit fund the 50% of the entrance fees which is dedicated to finance their project(public fontain, electric power for the village, dispensary...)
PROMOTING ADVENTURE TOURS:CANOEING, BUSH CAMPING, TREKKING
With our extensive experience in Canoeing and adventure trekking, we plan your off-beaten adventure tour according to your request and level of fitness, inside the National Parks and wilderness trekking crossing mountains, streams and villages.
We have done several Canoeing and Trekking trips throughout Madagascar from easy walk to difficult which required high level of fitness, from 4 days to 3 weeks.
After exploring almost Madagascar corners I decided to go beyond, and went to explore Africa mainland for fun, and for new experiences.
OUR ADVENTURE TRIP EXPERIENCES
I ve started my trip to TANZANIA which has the most popular game reserves.I visited (Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro, Serengenti), UGANDA(Queen Elisabeth National Park, Cruise down Kasinga Channel, Birding in Mabamba Wetland), ZAMBIA(Victoria Falls, microlite above Victoria Falls), SOUTH AFRICA (Shakaland, Symounye, Lesedi cultural tourism, Cruise on Sainte Lucia, Umfolozi, Hulhulhue and Kruger game reserves).
- In 2005, I wanted to explore new horizon, and decide to challenge myself, and went to Tanzania to do the 4Day Central Circuit, a trekking with Massai from Ngorongoro to Oldonyo, with the nocturnal ascent of Oldonyo Lengai (1250m) an active volcano.
- In 2006, I came back again to Tanzania and did the Kilimanjaro trekking, the highest summit of Africa and choose the 7 Day Machame Route with ascent of Kibo peak( Kilimanjaro), because of severe mountain sickness and snow storm, I had to track back at Gilman’s point6200m), just 200m high from the Kili summit.
I was very disappointed, the following year I made up my mind and decide to go to Uganda, Rwenzori, the 3rd highest after Mount Kenya.
In 2007, I wanted to make a challenge after the past failure in Kili, and decided to do Rwenzori 7Day Central Circuit with the ascent of Margareta peak, the 3rd roof of Africa but boasts the most thoughest trails (boggy trails and snows).
This time, I was well prepared mentally and physically and my dream come true, I reached Margareta peak (6108m).
DONATION
Great Island Adventure Safaris has made donation of medecines to the new dispensary of Andravona fishermen village, a remote small village which suffers from health care.
The villagers of this small community which consists mainly of childreen have to make 15km walk to go to the nearest village to be treated.
To help the local people, Mikea Lodge built this dispensary.
