Embarking you in the middle of nowhere, while you will encounter an authentic Malagasy culture and experience a real adventurous trip in the wilderness area of the western Madagascar.
This 11day Manambolo Canoeing Safari allows you to explore the breathtaking Tsingy of Bemaraha World Heritage Site, to experience an off the beaten trekking and canoeing (rubber canoe) and bush camping.

Exploring the Tsingy of Bemaraha World Heritage Site with its spectacular limestone pinnacles large massif and its labyrinths, caves and underground streams is the highlight of this trip, plus visit of the kingdom of baobabs.

ANTANANARIVO-TSIROANIMANDIDY-BELOBAKA-ANKAVANDRA-MANAMBOLO RIVER-BEKOPAKA-TSINGY OF BEMARAHA-MORONDAVA

CENTRAL HIGHLANDS/MIDDLE-WEST/WEST

01 domestic flight

Day 1: Arrival
Arrival, meet and greet at Ivato airport and transfer to the hotel located in Antananarivo capital city.
Dinner and overnight at TAMBOHO HOTEL (3*) or LE CHALET DES ROSES (2*)
Day 2: Drive to Tsiroanimandidy
Drive westward to Tsiroanomandidy and stop for lunch in Ampefy volcanic area. Then, we continue our journey to Tsiroanimandidy country’s largest zebu cattle market.

Day 3: Drive to Bongolava region – Trekking
We have a half day drive in Bongolava region. After having a picnic lunch we’ll continue our journey, then trek for 50 to 1hour.
Day 4: Trekking to Ankavandra- Canoeing down to the Manambolo River
Early morning start towards Ankavandra village, the starting point of the canoeing safari. After lunch we’ll start our journey paddling in red shallow and tranquil river that meanders through the scenically flat immense plains.

Day5:Manambolo River
Tented bush camping on full board.
Day 6:Manambolo River
Full day canoeing. We’ll pass through small hamlets before entering Manambolo Gorge which covered by lush vegetation which inhabit some lemurs and birds.

Day 7: Gorge of Manambolo River- Bekopaka Village
We’ll spend the whole morning canoeing, and arrive at Bekopaka village before noon, the ending point of the river trip.
Afternoon visit of the nearby “Petit TSINGY” (Bemaraha National Park).

Day 8: Bemaraha World Heritage Site”Grand Tsingy”
Depart early in the morning to the “Grand TSINGY” which lies 17km on a track. We’ll have a full day exploration of the majestic Grand Tsingy with its famous labyrinth and suspended bridge which offer an impressive 360° panoramic view.

Drive to Morondava
We'll depart early in the morning to Morondava coastal town, and stop at Belo-sur-Tsiribihina for lunch. Then,we'll have another stop at the Baobab Alley for sunset.
Dinner and overnight at the hotel
Day 10: Fly to Antananarivo
Transfer to the airport for our flight to Antananarivo. Upon arrival, we’ll visit some curio shops.
We’ll have a farewell dinner at Villa Vanille.
Day 11: Departure
You will be transferred to the airport for your return flight.

    • the visit to the Grand Tsingy is not recommended for people who suffer from vertigo.
    • In remote places like Bekopaka, there is NO ELECTRICAL POWER
    • During the bush camping there is neither running water nor power, we use candle and supply water from the river and use water purification for cooking
    • Madagascar is a French speaking country, an English speaking tour guide is recommended if you don’t speak French

This 7day journey allows you to experience a 3day adventure boat trip (barge) down to Tsiribihina River and bush camping in the remote western Madagascar.
You will have the opportunity to discover the hidden beauty of the west such as the blue natural pool of Nosy Ampela and the majestic Tsingy of Bemaraha World Heritage Site.

This boat trip can be combine with a visit to the Tsingy of Bemaraha World Heritage Site and Kirindy Forest

Day 1: Arrival

Day 2: Drive to Miandrivazo
Early morning departure to Miandrivazo a small town in the Middle West, the departure point of all of the river expedition down to Tsiribihina River. Driving southward, we will cross the Central Highlands with its picturesque landscapes featured by Merina rural villages. After having lunch in Antsirabe, we’ll continue our journey, crossing some grasslands, wide savannahs and eroded rolling hills. Dinner and overnight at LA PRINCESSE DE LA TSIRIBIHINA HOTEL
Day 3: Drive to Masiakampy and on board on Tsiribihina River
Drive some 35km on a dirt road to Masiakampy, the starting point of Tsiribihina boat expedition. On board on a barge down to the Mahajilo River then continue on to the wide Tsiribihina River. We’ll cross some sparse population is scattered in small hamlets and farmlands. Several birds and shore birds can be seen along the river such as Madagascar Bee-Eaters, Madagascar Kingfishers and some shore birds including several species of egrets, herons, ducks ...
We’ll settle our tents on the white sand riverbank and have dinner on board.

Day 4: Tsiribihina River
After breakfast, we’ll go on barge to Nosy Ampela, and hike up to this Bemaraha limestone plateau and refresh inside some crystal blue natural pools. This limestone massif covered by original plants inhabits some lemurs such as Verreaux’s Sifaka, Brown Lemur and Western Bamboo Lemur. We’ll continue our journey to Berevo village.

Day5:Tsiribihina River-Drive back to Morondava via Baobab Alley
After breakfast, we’ll sail along the Menabe plains and pass through some villages. We’ll track back to Belo Sur Tsiribihina and stop for lunch, then continue on to Morondava coastal town,
crossing some dry deciduous forests with three baobab species (Adansonia za, Adansonia fony and Adansonia grandidieri).We’ll stop at the Baobab Alley for sunset.

Day 6:Morondava

Day 7: Fly to Antananarivo
Transfer to the airport for our flight to Antananarivo. Upon arrival, we’ll visit some curio shops.
